Basketball Recap: Mountain View Prep Takes a Loss

Mountain View Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They took a blow against the Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers, falling 73-24. While losing is never fun, the Stars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 243rd in South Carolina, while the Buccaneers are ranked 70th in North Carolina).

Despite the defeat, Mountain View Prep saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Avery Caldwell went 5 of 11 en route to 11 points and six boards. Bailey Judd also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

It was another big night for Olive Bigham, who posted 24 points for Charlotte Country Day School. Bigham's morning made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Sam Vanderhave was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Mountain View Prep's loss dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Charlotte Country Day School, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-6.

Mountain View Prep has already played their next contest (against Greer Middle College), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Charlotte Country Day School will welcome Covenant Day at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Charlotte Country Day School is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.2 points per game this season.
