Basketball Recap: James Irwin Skates Past Woodland Park with Ease

The Jaguars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 28 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead James Irwin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Stella Reed, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Reed a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Hannah Meier, who posted 11 points along with seven steals and six boards.

James Irwin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

The win snapped James Irwin's losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 3-7 record. As for Woodland Park, their loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-15.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the James Irwin Jaguars challenge the La Junta Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Woodland Park, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lamar at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lamar's defense has only allowed 28.5 points per game this season, so Woodland Park's offense will have their work cut out for them.
