Basketball Recap: Mitchell Marauders vs. Rocky Ford Meloneers
Mitchell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 35th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 59-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rocky Ford Meloneers.

Loss or not, Mitchell got some senior leadership from Caleb Curlett and Noah Romero. Curlett went 12 for 22 on his way to 27 points and three steals, while Romero dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Curlett has scored all season.
Even though they lost, Mitchell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since the start of last season.
It was another big night for Isaiah Vazquez-Gallegos, who shot 4-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten boards for Rocky Ford. Vazquez-Gallegos has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Juan Murillo, who went 5 of 9 en route to 18 points.
Mitchell's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Rocky Ford, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-11.
When Mitchell and Rocky Ford next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Mitchell will challenge Falcon and their five-game winning streak at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Rocky Ford will try to stop Holly's three-game winning streak when the meet at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
