Basketball Recap: Catholic of Pointe Coupee Takes a Loss

The matchup between Catholic of Pointe Coupee and Northeast on Monday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Catholic of Pointe Coupee Hornets took a hard 63-48 fall against the Northeast Vikings. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hornets of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2022.

Northeast's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braylon Guerin, who almost dropped a double-double with 26 points and nine rebounds. Guerin is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Derrick Cavalier, who posted 16 points in addition to eight boards and five steals.

Catholic of Pointe Coupee's loss dropped their record down to 12-18. As for Northeast, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-14 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Catholic of Pointe Coupee will welcome Westminster Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Northeast, they will be playing at home against East Feliciana at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
