Basketball Recap: Tucson High Magnet School Beats Marana for Their Third Straight Win

Tucson High Magnet School had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Marana Tigers by a score of 64-56. The Badgers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tucson High Magnet School to victory, but perhaps none more so than Xavier Grajeda, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 16 points and seven boards. That's the most rebounds Grajeda has posted since back in December of 2024. Malaki Cunningham-Hiadzi was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

Tucson High Magnet School's victory bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Marana, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 12-8.

Tucson High Magnet School is taking a road trip to face off against Sunnyside at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sunnyside is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.1 points per game this season. As for Marana, they will head out on the road to take on Rincon/University at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Marana's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
