Basketball Recap: Valley Center Falls Despite Big Games from Austin Saner and Colby J Newton

Valley Center was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 69-64 heartbreaker at the hands of the Maize South Mavericks. The Hornets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mavericks earlier this season, when they won 55-54.

Valley Center's loss came despite strong showings from Colby J newton and Austin Saner. J newton went 6-for-12 to rack up 17 points, while Saner posted 14 points and five assists. The dominant performance gave Saner a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Ray J Logan, who earned 12 points.

Valley Center's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Maize South, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-8.
