The Lone Star Rangers will challenge the Frisco Raccoons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are still undefeated (Lone Star has five wins , while Frisco has four dating back to last season).
Lone Star is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Heritage, posting a 54-7 win. Fans of the Rangers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
Trey Wright continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 120 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries, while also throwing for 270 yards and two TDs while completing 93.3% of his passes. Davian Groce was another key player, picking up 233 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lone Star was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 225 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 160 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Lone Star's defense and their seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Marcel Dominguez and Colsen Jaggars, who racked up five sacks between them. Dominguez has been hot recently, having also posted five or more total tackles the last three times he's played.
Meanwhile, Frisco was fully in charge last Friday, breezing past Heritage 56-28.
Frisco's win came from a few key players Lone Star will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jackson Voris, who rushed for 40 yards and two TDs. Another passer making a difference was Cobyn Harbert, who threw for 180 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Frisco didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Slade Bronson and J'Siah Watson. Frisco got some further help from Baron Barker: he picked up three sacks, forced two fumbles, and made nine total tackles.
Frisco's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Lone Star, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.
The upcoming contest will be a clash of competing strengths. Lone Star has relied on air attacks this season and has averaged 269.4 passing yards per game. Frisco, on the other hand, has relied on a stout run game: they average 165.7 rushing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Thursday? There's only one way to find out.
Lone Star skirted past Frisco 27-24 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Will the Rangers repeat their success, or do the Raccoons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
