Football Recap: Myers Park Takes Down Ranked Charlotte Christian

Myers Park faced Charlotte Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Mustangs enjoyed a cozy 24-6 win over the Knights. This was payback for the Mustangs, who suffered a 40-37 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Myers Park was led to victory by Josh Falzarano Jr and Brody Keefe. Falzarano Jr rushed for 116 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries, while Keefe picked up 67 receiving yards and one score. Falzarano Jr's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 116 rushing yards.

Myers Park didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kam Guy and Justin Westbrook. Rodney Dunham was another major factor on D, picking up two sacks and making eight total tackles.

Myers Park's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Charlotte Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Myers Park will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Garinger at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. This will be the Mustangs' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. Charlotte Christian has already played their next matchup (against Ravenscroft), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
