Football Game Preview: Clarkston Angoras vs. Marist War Eagles + How To Watch

The Clarkston Angoras will head out to square off against the Marist War Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Clarkston hasn't scored more than 12 points for seven games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Clarkston is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took a 29-12 bruising from Northview on Thursday. The Angoras were down 26-6 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Meanwhile, Marist had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They walked away with a 28-21 win over the Golden Lions. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the War Eagles' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Golden Lions are ranked 165th).

Clarkston better keep an eye on James Lasco. He was instrumental in Marist's win, rushing for 188 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and also throwing for 123 yards and one TD. With that strong performance, Lasco is now averaging an impressive 102.2 rushing yards per game. Parks Kaiser was another key player, rushing for 85 yards and one touchdown.

Marist was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 366 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 200 rushing yards in three consecutive games.

Marist didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Engin McCarthy led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.

Marist's record is now 6-1. As for Clarkston, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Clarkston was dealt a bruising 56-0 loss at the hands of Marist in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Angoras avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
