Softball Recap: Cambridge City Lincoln Takes a Loss

Cambridge City Lincoln extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-9 in the process. They came up short against the Connersville Spartans, falling 14-1. The Golden Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Spartans from their previous meeting back in May of 2023.

Cambridge City Lincoln saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addyson Pitcock, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

As for Connersville, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games.

On Connersville's side, Jade Green was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Green has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Bre Brock and Carmen Ruble did most of the damage at the plate: Brock went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Ruble went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Ruble has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Addie Phillips was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Cambridge City Lincoln wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-0 loss against Tri on the 16th. As for Connersville, they have also already played their next game, a 5-4 defeat against Greensburg on the 16th.
