Franklin waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over the Marshall Barristers. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Panthers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 837th, while the Barristers are ranked 216th).

The win got Franklin back to even at 5-5-2. As for Marshall, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Franklin face off against the Lincoln at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Marshall, they are taking a road trip to take on Wilson at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Marshall's last three games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
