Basketball Game Preview: Manchester Squires vs. Peru Tigers

The Manchester Squires are taking a road trip to take on the Peru Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Saturday, Manchester earned a 40-31 win over Rochester. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Squires' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 244th, while the Zebras are ranked 94th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Manchester to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hadley West, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards. West has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Peyton Ream was another key player, going 5 of 8 en route to 13 points.

Meanwhile, Peru waltzed into their contest on Saturday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They walked away with a 46-35 win over the Comets. 46 seems to be a good number for the Tigers as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Manchester better keep an eye on Addie Robbins. She was instrumental in Peru's win, putting up 17 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Another player making a difference was Jacey Boswell, who posted nine points.

Peru is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. As for Manchester, they pushed their record up to 9-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Manchester took their victory against Peru in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 52-27. The rematch might be a little tougher for Manchester since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
