Softball Game Preview: Abington Galloping Ghosts vs. Mt. St. Joseph Academy Magic

The Abington Galloping Ghosts will head out to challenge the Mt. St. Joseph Academy Magic at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

Last Monday, Abington came up short against Wissahickon and fell 6-2. The Galloping Ghosts have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Abington saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Danica Santiago, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Mt. St. Joseph Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Jems as they made off with a 7-1 win.

Grace O'Brien spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits.

At the plate, Emily Markowski was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Madison Press was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

Mt. St. Joseph Academy's record is now 3-1. As for Abington, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Abington couldn't quite get it done against Mt. St. Joseph Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 as they fell 5-2. Can the Galloping Ghosts avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
