Basketball Recap: Worcester Comes Up Short

Worcester was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 37-32 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sharon Springs Central Spartans. The Wolverines were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 37-33.

Peyton Barbic had an outrageously good game for Sharon Springs Central as she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards. What's more, Barbic also racked up four steals, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Zarie Barbic, who posted 14 points and three steals.

Worcester's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Sharon Springs Central, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-9.

Worcester does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sharon Springs Central, they will square off against Hunter-Tannersville at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
