Volleyball Recap: Burke Find Success

Burke's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Bryan Bears. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted since September 12th.

Burke can attribute much of their success to Ana Gigitashvili, who had six aces and five digs. Those six aces gave Gigitashvili a new career-high.

Gigitashvili wasn't the only good servers: Burke was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Burke is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-19 record this season. As for Bryan, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 15 of their last 16 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-27 record this season.

Burke wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Marian on the 20th. As for Bryan, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Buena Vista on the 21st.
