Football Game Preview: Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines vs. Falls City Tigers

The Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines will head out to face off against the Falls City Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Falls City took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Wilber-Clatonia, who comes in off a win.

Wilber-Clatonia is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came out on top against Nebraska City by a score of 38-28 on Friday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Wolverines considering their 13-point performance the matchup before.

Wilber-Clatonia's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zach Marsh, who rushed for 98 yards and one score, and also picked up 48 receiving yards and one TD. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 51 yards. Aven Smith was another key passer, throwing for 166 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Falls City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were dealt a 40-0 loss at the hands of Syracuse. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Tigers were not able to get on the board.

The victory made it two in a row for Wilber-Clatonia and bumps their season record up to 3-4. As for Falls City, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Friday's game might be decided in the trenches. Wilber-Clatonia has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 175.7 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Falls City, though, as they've been averaging only 88.4 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?

Everything went Wilber-Clatonia's way against Falls City in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Wilber-Clatonia made off with a 49-27 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
