Portola's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Irvine Vaqueros. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Portola was especially dominant in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-21, 25-27, 25-19.

Portola's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Irvine, they dropped their record down to 4-8 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Portola didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Dos Pueblos on the 15th. As for Irvine, they will take on Laguna Beach at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
