Basketball Recap: Belmont Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Deshler

Belmont is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Deshler. The Belmont Cardinals had to suffer through a 90-56 loss at the hands of the Deshler Tigers. The Cardinals have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Deshler found their leader in sophomore Reece Davis, who went 15 of 20 en route to 41 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Davis has scored at least a third of Deshler's points.

Belmont's defeat dropped their record down to 19-5. As for Deshler, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 18 of their last 19 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season.

Belmont has already played their next contest, a 71-25 win against Kossuth on the 28th. As for Deshler, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 61-39 loss against Lauderdale County on the 27th.
