Baseball Recap: Higley Takes a Loss

Thursday just wasn't the day for Higley's offense. They fell just short of the Queen Creek Bulldogs by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. The Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 8-5.

Alan Macias was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 6.1 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero).

At the plate, Higley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gio Liburdi, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Higley's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Queen Creek, their record is now 7-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Higley will venture away from home to take on Pinnacle at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Queen Creek, they will head out to face off against Red Mountain at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
