Baseball Recap: Air Academy Kadets vs. Discovery Canyon Thunder

Air Academy extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 9-4-1 in the process. They came up short against the Discovery Canyon Thunder, falling 10-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thunder this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-1 on Tuesday.

Wyatt Kelley was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off only one hit.

At the plate, Keegan Cornelius was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

As for Discovery Canyon, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.

On Discovery Canyon's side, Ryan Egan looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Egan has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Carson Seeley was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Ross, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

Coming up, Air Academy will take on Lutheran at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Discovery Canyon, they will face off against The Classical Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Titans will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
