Monday just wasn't the day for Ponce De Leon's offense. They fell just short of Baker by a score of 2-0 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Pirates have suffered since April 9, 2024.

Kiyann Alford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Kinston entered their tilt with Pleasant Home on Thursday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. Everything went their way against the Eagles as they made off with a 15-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Kinston's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Ponce De Leon, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Ponce De Leon might still be hurting after the 15-7 loss they got from Kinston in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Ponce De Leon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
