Softball Recap: Gadsden City Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Gadsden City barely beat Gaston the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Titans were the clear victors by a 21-5 margin over the Bulldogs on Monday. The contest marked the Titans' most dominant win of the season.

Raina Underwood was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Kiera Hampton was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last five matches. Kaeli Wyatt also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Gadsden City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .680. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Gadsden City's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-24. As for Gaston, they dropped their record down to 7-16-1 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Coming up, Gadsden City will host Westbrook Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Titans are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Gaston, they will head out on the road to face off against Saks at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
