Baseball Game Preview: Carbon Dinos vs. Emery Spartans

Carbon has gone a perfect 10-0 against Emery recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Dinos are taking a road trip to challenge the Spartans at 3:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Carbon couldn't beat Morgan on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Dinos fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 8-7.

Cash Withers was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Carbon's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 6-14 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Bennett, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Emery unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 5-0 to Carbon. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Spartans haven't been shut out since back in March.

Emery saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Beau Stilson, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. Stilson has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

Emery's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Carbon, their loss dropped their record down to 8-15.

Carbon beat Emery 5-0 in their previous meeting on Tuesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dinos since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
