Softball Recap: Niwot Cougars vs. Palisade Bulldogs
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Grand Junction Central, Niwot was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They blew past the Palisade Bulldogs 13-2. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Mandy Roth and Kianna Butler were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Roth pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Butler struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. What's more, Roth also posted a .667 batting average, which is the highestshe's posted in her last 11 matches. At bat, Roth scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Butler went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.
In other batting news, Madison Dodge was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits. Payton Johnson was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Niwot was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palisade only posted a batting average of .208.
