Colton Schmidt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Park City is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 2-3 otherwise. Schmidt was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Justin Michaelis was a standout: he scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alex Brannigan, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Park City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Juan Diego Catholic only posted an OBP of .393.
Park City pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Juan Diego Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Park City has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .495.
