Volleyball Recap: Inman Inman Teutons vs. Cheney Cardinals

On Saturday, Inman faced Cheney in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Inman Inman Teutons fell just short of the Cheney Cardinals by a score of 2-1. It was the first time this season that the Inman Teutons let down their fans at home.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Inman sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 26-28, 25-20.

Adi Alcala and Kenna Woods certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Alcala had 11 digs and two aces, while Woods had eight digs and six kills.

Even though they lost, Inman kept the net locked down and finished the game with 14 blocks. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least five blocks in three consecutive games.

Cheney found their leader in underclassman Kenadi Thome, who had 23 digs. Thome is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in the last three games she's played.

Inman's loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-1. As for Cheney, they pushed their record up to 9-0 with that victory, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Garden Plain the next time they take the court. Cheney will head out to face Garden Plain on Saturday, while Inman will play them later in the day, at TBD.
