The National Trail Blazers will head out on the road to square off against the Bradford Railroaders at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
National Trail had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Legacy Christian Academy on Thursday. The Blazers never let the Knights get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory. The Blazers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Morgan House made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). House was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Taylor Reynolds was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those RBI marked the first that she brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Eva Swartsell, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
National Trail always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Bradford got the win against Union City on Monday by a conclusive 12-2. The match marked the Railroaders' most dominant win of the season so far.
The team relied heavily on Lilly Canan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Chloe Hocker was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
National Trail's record is now 2-3. As for Bradford, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 3-4.
National Trail couldn't quite get it done against Bradford in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-2. Can the Blazers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
