Football Recap: Lumberton Starts off Right with Win over Fairmont

Lumberton had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They took down the Fairmont Golden Tornadoes 24-6 on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Pirates, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Lumberton found their leader in sophomore Jayden Graham, who rushed for 136 yards and three touchdowns.

Lumberton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 264 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August of 2024.

Lumberton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jakeis Hayes and Reggie Bush. Brandon Regan was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lumberton will take on St. Pauls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fairmont, they will challenge Forest Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
