Volleyball Recap: Ava Casias and Anika Hildebrandt Secure Win for Pioneer

Pioneer entered their tilt with Wood on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Wildcats 3-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Patriots also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Pioneer took every set by at least 16 points. The final score came out to 25-3, 25-5, 25-9.

Pioneer was led to victory by Anika Hildebrandt and Ava Casias. Hildebrandt had four digs and two aces, while Casias had eight digs and two aces. That's the most aces Hildebrandt has posted over her last six matches. Paige Bishop also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

They weren't the only good server: Pioneer was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in seven consecutive contests.

Pioneer's victory bumped their record up to 17-8. As for Wood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Pioneer will challenge rival Rodriguez at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Wood is set to face off against their familiar foe River City at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
