St. Augustine dropped their record down to 17-9-1 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cathedral Catholic Dons. The Saints were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Dons earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

St. Augustine got a good showing from Declan Higgins, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Higgins has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, St. Augustine saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mikey Ruiz, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Cathedral Catholic, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-10. The game was the first time they have beaten St. Augustine on their field since May 9, 2023.

On Cathedral Catholic's side, the team relied heavily on Ty Daniels, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. That's the most hits Daniels has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Joshua Priest, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

St. Augustine wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 5-1 victory against Coronado on the 14th. As for Cathedral Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-0 win against Point Loma on the 12th.
