Preview: Ventura Cougars vs. San Marcos Royals
The Ventura Cougars will look to defend their home court on Monday against the San Marcos Royals at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Ventura posted their biggest win since November 16, 2023 on Friday. They blew past Pacifica, posting a 71-43 victory at home.
Ventura relied on the efforts of Caleb Sebek, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds, and Travis Valenzuela, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 20 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sebek has scored all season. Parsa Kamali was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Meanwhile, San Marcos came up short against Oxnard on Friday and fell 67-56. San Marcos has not had much luck with Oxnard recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Ventura's win bumped their record up to 7-13. As for San Marcos, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-11.
Ventura didn't have too much breathing room in their match against San Marcos in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 51-47 win.
