Jett Slusser turned in yet another pitching appearance with more than seven strikeouts on Tuesday. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Pomeroy is 2-1 when Slusser allows two or fewer earned runs, but 3-5 otherwise.

Even though Slusser couldn't lead Pomeroy over Sunnyside Christian, he won't have to wait long to try again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sadly, Slusser's big day wasn't enough to stop the loss, which snapped the Pirates' three-game streak of wins at home.
