Soccer Game Preview: Westwood vs. Lugoff-Elgin

Westwood is 1-9 against Lugoff-Elgin since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Redhawks will look to defend their home pitch against the Demons at 7:00 p.m. Westwood has given up an average of 4.7 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Westwood is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Spring Valley, falling 7-0. While losing is never fun, Westwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 194th, while Spring Valley are ranked 39th).

Meanwhile, Lugoff-Elgin kept a clean sheet against Ridge View on Tuesday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Blazers. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Lugoff-Elgin were the better team in the second half.

Kyle Bacon and Djou Djoe Eloi scored both of Lugoff-Elgin's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 12 goals.

Westwood's loss dropped their record down to 2-21. As for Lugoff-Elgin, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-12.
