Football Recap: St. Maries Has No Trouble Against Salmon

The St. Maries Lumberjacks made easy work of the Salmon Savages on Saturday and carried off a 46-22 win.

Aiden Yearout had a dynamite game, rushing for 176 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 90 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Barta, who threw for 110 yards and three TDs while completing 78.6% of his passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: St. Maries was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 254 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

St. Maries' record is now 2-0. As for Salmon, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, St. Maries will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Bonners Ferry at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Salmon, they will venture away from home to take on Orofino at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
