Softball Recap: White Plains Makes It Five in a Row at Home

White Plains barely beat Rye the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers never let the Garnets get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won ten games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Not much got past Alexis Tighe, who gave up just three hits and racked up 16 Ks to keep Rye off the board. Tighe has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Noelle Quinones, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Neela Older was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

White Plains' victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Rye, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

White Plains will welcome North Rockland at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Rye, they will take on Rye Neck at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
