Baseball Recap: Eagle Pass Extends Winning Streak to Three

Eagle Pass had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They blew past the Smithson Valley Rangers 11-3. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 11-0 win the Rangers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Jose Romo looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on DJ Aranda, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three doubles, and four RBI. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Anthony Garcia was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Eagle Pass' victory bumped their record up to 16-10-2. As for Smithson Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 25-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Eagle Pass will head out to challenge Clemens at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Buffaloes' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Smithson Valley, they will challenge Rouse at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rangers 3.9, the Raiders 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
