Baseball Recap: Bret Harte Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

There's no place like home for Bret Harte, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Ripon Indians on Saturday.

Jack Trent was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Bret Harte's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Trent was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Trent wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Landon Camacho, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Camacho has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Bret Harte pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.6 runs across that stretch. As for Ripon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.

Bret Harte wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 6-2 victory against Big Valley Christian on the 25th. As for Ripon, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 win against Sonora on the 26th.
