Softball Recap: Lejeune Takes a Loss

Lejeune was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 23-5 to the East Carteret Mariners. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mariners this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-1 last Tuesday.

Kendall Taylor was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Lejeune's loss dropped their record down to 4-7-1. As for East Carteret, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lejeune will head out to face off against Jones at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lejeune's pitchers better be ready for this one: Jones has averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. As for East Carteret, they are taking a road trip to challenge Northside - Pinetown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
