Baseball Recap: Grant Wins Going Away Against Sun Valley Magnet

Grant won the last time they faced Sun Valley Magnet and things went their way on Friday too. Everything went the Grant Lancers' way against the Sun Valley Magnet Pioneers as the Grant Lancers made off with a 13-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lancers.

Matthew Gonzalez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in February of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Carlos Garcia was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Rodriguez, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Grant's record now sits at 2-0.

Looking ahead, Grant will square off against Northridge Academy at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Sun Valley Magnet, they will face off against Sherman Oaks CES at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
