Volleyball Recap: Crescent Valley Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Bend

Crescent Valley faced Bend in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Raiders took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lava Bears. The loss was the Raiders' first of the season.

Niana King paced Crescent Valley's offense, picking up six kills. King got some help from Lela Campos and her 14 assists. Finally, Emma Yenchik kept Crescent Valley's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Having lost for the first time this season, Crescent Valley fell to 15-1-1. As for Bend, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Crescent Valley has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against West Linn on the 27th. As for Bend, they will take on Roseburg at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
