Basketball Recap: Plymouth Comes Up Short

If Plymouth was feeling good fresh off their 69-35 takedown of New Prairie last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Plymouth Pilgrims/Rockies fell 54-47 to the Tippecanoe Valley Vikings on Friday. The Pilgrims/Rockies have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Plymouth lost, don't look at Preston Wolfe. Despite the final result, he went 5 for 10 on his way to 14 points and five steals. Wolfe has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trenton Van Duyne, who posted 13 points and five boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tippecanoe Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Deondre Hamilton, who had 11 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points Hamilton has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Blain Sheetz, who put up 11 points and eight boards.

Plymouth's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Tippecanoe Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Plymouth didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-39 win against Mishawaka on the 10th. Tippecanoe Valley has also already played their next game, a 67-37 victory against Glenn on the 10th.
