Basketball Recap: Hylton Comes Up Short

Hylton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 40-24 to the Woodbridge Vikings. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 54-37 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Raegan Cathcart was Hylton's leading scorer, having posted 12 points. Diamond Johnson held things down on the boards with nine rebounds.

Woodbridge found their leader in sophomore Maia Melendez, who posted 21 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Melendez has scored at least a third of Woodbridge's points.

Hylton's loss dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Woodbridge, their victory bumped their record up to 8-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Woodbridge beat Hylton by a score of 56-39 on Friday.
