Basketball Game Preview: Notus Pirates vs. Centennial Baptist Mustangs

Notus is 6-1 against Centennial Baptist since December of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Notus Pirates will host the Centennial Baptist Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Notus is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Notus was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 64-63 to Rimrock. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (55), the Pirates still had to take the loss.

Despite their defeat, Notus saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Caleb Cudaback, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards, was perhaps the best of all. Those 11 rebounds gave Cudaback a new career-high. Luis Vargas was another key player, going 5 for 9 on his way to 14 points.

Meanwhile, Centennial Baptist was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 53-49 to Gem State Adventist Academy. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now lost three in a row.

Notus' defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Centennial Baptist, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.

Everything came up roses for Notus against Centennial Baptist in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 75-23 win. In that game, Notus amassed a halftime lead of 44-13, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
