Baseball Recap: Davie Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Davie, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Parkland Mustangs a 15-0 shutout on Friday. With that win, the War Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Jacob Patton looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Davie is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-5 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Coy James, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Hunter Potts also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Davie lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Parkland didn't launched any home runs.

Davie's record now sits at 4-6. As for Parkland, their record now sits at 1-10.

Davie and Parkland could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Davie (ranked 243rd) will meet West Rowan (ranked 42nd) at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Parkland will square off against East Forsyth at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 415 places (437 vs. 22).
