Football Recap: Valley Christian Keeps Valley's Under Pressure

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Delta, Valley Christian was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with a 24-12 win over the Valley Vikings. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Noah Lutes had a dynamite game, rushing for 70 yards and one TD on only seven carries, while also throwing for 118 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passing touchdowns (two).

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Valley Christian's defense and their four sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Paxton Pebley, Jackson Barna, and Stephen Morse, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Valley's side was Pebley, who picked up a sack, forced two fumbles, and made five total tackles.

The win got Valley Christian back to even at 1-1. As for Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valley Christian will host Florin at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th. After each having a week off, Valley and Encina will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on the 12th. This will be the Vikings' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
