Baseball Recap: Buena Comes Up Short

Buena made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Cedar Creek, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Chiefs fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 9-7 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Chiefs have suffered since May 9, 2024.

Aden Vai made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Buena: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Josue Cuadrado, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Buena now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Cedar Creek, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Buena will face off against Oakcrest at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cedar Creek, they will square off against Hammonton at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Devils will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Pirates surely won't give up without a fight.
