Baseball Recap: Marceline Triumphs

Marceline gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They won by a run and slipped past the Wheatland Mules 9-8. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Cody Rodgers was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rodgers was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Roper Neimiere was excellent, scoring a run while going 4-for-4. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season.

Marceline's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Wheatland, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 11-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marceline will take on Maysville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wheatland, they will face off against Fordland at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
