Volleyball Recap: Summit Country Day Falls Short of Lake Catholic in the Playoffs

Summit Country Day and Lake Catholic squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Summit Country Day had to settle for second. They lost 3-0 to the Cougars. The shutout was out of character for the Silver Knights seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in October.

While Summit Country Day was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-23, 25-18.

Summit Country Day lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Rylee Jewell, who had 13 digs and one assist. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 13 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Lake Catholic found their leader in sophomore Maddie Summers, who had ten digs. Sophia Raguz also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

The loss snapped Summit Country Day's winning streak at seven matches and leaves them with a 23-5 record. As for Lake Catholic, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 18-10.

Summit Country Day does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lake Catholic, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 win against New Lexington on the 9th.
