Football Recap: Gateway Starts Season with Defeat on the Road + How To Watch

Gateway kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell 7-2 to the Space Coast Vipers. The Panthers lost against the Vipers in their previous head to head back in August of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 40-0 score last time.

Even if they lost, Gateway's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Dory Thimote was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. He is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season.

Space Coast pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gateway will welcome Astronaut at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Space Coast, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against St. Edward's at 7:00 p.m.
