The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Boardman nor Canfield made it on the board until the seventh inning. The Spartans fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 2-1. The Spartans' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Boardman saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Whippo, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Boardman's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Canfield, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.

Coming up, Boardman will head out on the road to face off against Poland Seminary at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Canfield, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Columbiana at 5:00 p.m.
